RuPaul's Drag Race started off as a TV show back in 2009, but over the years it grew into a global phenomenon. World came to adore "drag" as an art form, and "the queens" became known worldwide as first class entertainers. This syncretic art form exudes talent, but long and hard work is what the audience from different backgrounds appreciate, so there is little to no space for someone mediocre to succeed. They sew their own dresses, dance in them and act in front of the cameras, they sing and lipsync like their lives depend on it.

The competitive part of the show is the search for America's Next Drag Superstar, which some of them became by actually winning the show or being fan favorites. They are on the covers of magazines; develop Broadway productions, record duets with pop stars, perform on award ceremonies, put out albums and work on well received movies and TV shows. Their influence on the world of fashion is unmeasurable, whether when they collaborate with famous fashion designers or create their own lines.

You don't have to be a fan of the show to recognize some of the great names that became of Alyssa Edwards, Alaska Thunderfuck 5000, Bianca Del Rio, Violet Chachki, Bob The Drag Queen, Ekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova (but your dad just calls her Katya), Willam Belli, Sharon Needles, Courtney Act, Kim Chi, Miss Fame, Victoria Parker – (Hey) Porkchop, etc.

On social media, their fans are numbered in millions, and among them there are some high-profile stars such as Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Björk, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Newton-John, Gigi Hadid, Chloë Sevigny, Dita Von Teese, Kathy Griffin, Demi Lovato, Alyssa Milano, Khloe Kardashian, Nicole Scherzinger, Blondie...

Season 9 starts March 25th (in our time zone) when we will be presented with 13 new queens.
RPDR Serbia and Culture Centre GRAD invite you to a Season 9 Premiere Viewing Party.

This will be a unique opportunity to enjoy the show that became so popular that it moved to a well-known TV channel VH1, though it is still produced by World of Wonder.
